OFAC screening on Ethereum matches the full 0x identifier against SDN digital-currency fields and confirms the record refers to Ethereum activity, not another EVM chain that reuses the same address format.
Entity designations can list contracts and EOAs together
The Tornado Cash action showed that OFAC publishes both service identities and concrete Ethereum addresses. A match requires the complete 40-hex identifier. Truncated UI displays and lookalike characters are not enough.
Separate a listed identifier from DeFi exposure
Receiving ETH that once touched a designated contract is exposure evidence. It does not rewrite every downstream wallet into an SDN entry. Case language should say direct listing, inbound exposure, or traced route, with dates attached.
Same 0x string on another chain is a different ledger
BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, Avalanche, and Optimism reuse the address format. An Ethereum SDN hit does not automatically prove the same controller on those networks. Name the network in the screening note.
