FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is AML crypto screening?

AML (Anti-Money Laundering) crypto screening checks whether a wallet address has been linked to sanctioned entities, darknet markets, mixers, ransomware campaigns or other illicit activity. Exchanges, OTC desks and VASPs run AML checks to comply with FATF Recommendation 16 (the "Travel Rule"), OFAC SDN obligations and their domestic KYC/AML statutes.

How fresh is the sanctions data?

OFAC SDN, UN, UK HM Treasury, Australian DFAT and Swiss SECO lists are pulled and reconciled every 24 hours. Newly published addresses are propagated to the lookup engine within minutes of each refresh.

Do you store the addresses I check?

Only anonymous request counters are logged for rate limiting. Addresses themselves are never linked to identities, are dropped after 24 hours and are never resold or shared with third parties.

What does the 0–100 risk score mean?

0–34 — low risk, no material exposure detected. 35–69 — medium risk, indirect counterparty exposure to flagged entities (typically several hops away). 70–100 — high risk, direct match with sanctions, mixers or known illicit actors. Most exchanges set a hard block above 70 and require enhanced due diligence between 35–69.

Can I use this via API or in bulk?

Yes. Bulk screening (CSV uploads) and a REST API are offered to verified businesses through the @cryptoamlscan_bot operator. Reach out via Telegram for credentials, pricing and rate limits.
